Today, President Joe Biden will sign the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which will direct billions of dollars of much needed funding to Florida to address our state’s critical infrastructure needs.

In response, Progress Florida Executive Director Mark Ferrulo and Florida Watch Executive Director Josh Weierbach issue the following statements:

“Once again, President Biden has delivered on his promise to ‘Build Back Better’ with today’s signing of the historic Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act,” said Progress Florida Executive Director Mark Ferrulo. “This bipartisan legislation delivers billions of dollars to repair and upgrade Florida’s roads and bridges, improve public transportation throughout the state, and ensure access to clean, safe drinking water for every Floridian by replacing outdated lead pipes. These investments will be game changers for the future of Florida by putting in place the critical infrastructure our state needs to succeed for generations to come.”

“The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act is more proof that President Joe Biden will always put politics aside when it comes to doing what is right for the American people,” said Florida Watch Executive Director Josh Weierbach. “Here in Florida, expanding access to broadband will be life changing for hundreds of thousands of students and small business owners in rural areas, increased funding to combat climate disasters and for EV charging stations are vital for Florida’s environment in the future, and the thousands of good-paying union jobs to build this infrastructure will provide more families with the economic security they deserve. These investments will truly allow us to Build Back Better for generations to come!”
