September Jobs Report Shows Weak Gains as Byron Donalds Pushes AI That Eliminates More Jobs

Donalds’s campaign is being bankrolled with close to $6 million by AI companies replacing people with machines

TALLAHASSEE — According to the September U.S. jobs report released this morning, the U.S. added just 29,000 jobs in September, missing expectations, as the unemployment rate ticked up.

While key economic indicators and consumer sentiment show a clearly fragile economy, Florida’s Republican Nominee for Governor, Byron Donalds, says he’d give President Donald Trump an A on the economy. He’s not only defending the policies driving the slowdown, but also cashing in on them by taking checks from AI and data center companies that are actually taking people’s jobs.

“Here in Florida, we believe in hard work, earning your keep, and building a life where if you’re willing to work hard, you can get ahead. But Byron Donalds is bankrolled by AI companies that are trying to replace working people with AI and robots while pushing to expand AI data centers into our communities,” said Lisa Zayas, Deputy Communications Director at Florida Watch.

Data centers and AI facilities are notoriously low-employment operations, and generate a fraction of the long-term jobs of the traditional industries they displace.

“As working families are paying more, getting squeezed harder, and watching the promise of the American Dream slip further out of reach, Byron Donalds says he’d give the President an ‘A’ on the economy, but today’s jobs report reflects what people here already know: good jobs are disappearing, hard work isn’t being respected, and too many people who do everything right are still struggling to get ahead.

“Byron Donalds is nothing more than an out-of-touch politician who represents more of the same failed leadership that has sold out working people to corporate donors. That’s not what Florida needs, and it’s not the future we deserve,” said Zayas.
