Reports to Florida Watch’s Executive Director. The Operations Associate assists with the administrative, compliance, and accounting functions at Florida Watch.
The Florida Communications and Research Hub, a joint partnership of Progress Florida and Florida Watch, serves as the progressive community’s core in-state coordinating entity for research, communications, digital, and messaging strategy that resonates with everyday Floridians. You will join a small, agile, and highly effective team, where your role will be to guarantee the efficient movement of all work products through our internal systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Operations and compliance experience with 501(c)(4)’s or political organizations.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills, including effective management of internal communications.
- Ability to think on your feet and adapt to the ever-changing political landscape in Florida.
- Campaign finance and non-profit filing knowledge a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Tracking affiliated budgets.
- Working with the accountant on monthly/annual financial reports.
- Preparing necessary financial reports with the accountant, lawyer, and Executive Director for Florida Watch and its affiliated organizations (e.g., 527 PC, potential 501(c)3).
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and fundraising stipulations in coordination with lawyers and the Executive Director.
- Monitoring and creating internal control processes for full legal and industry best-practice compliance.
- Leveraging technology to improve organizational and programmatic operations.
- Assisting the Executive Director who serves the Human Resources point of contact: processing payroll, managing PTO/benefits via the PEO, and handling performance reviews.
- Coordinating internal and key external meetings (agendas, invites, materials).
- Overseeing grant applications and reporting.
- Maintaining a project management dashboard for an organization-wide overview of programmatic endeavors.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
The starting salary for this role is $60,000 per year. We also offer a 401k with up to a 5% match, health insurance, disability and life insurance, flexible work environment, and paid time off. This is a full-time, remote position open to candidates based in Florida and is an election-cycle role running through December 2026.
